We are an independent and privately held capital markets and corporate finance boutique, serving institutions and a select group of family offices and ultra-high-net-worth clients.
We were founded in order to explore new ideas for our own capital and recognised the potential for private market, real estate and alternative investment opportunities. This entrepreneurial mindset remains with us today and is core to our way of conducting business.

Though we are known for investing in private, alternative and real assets, we also offer more traditional insights into public markets. The overriding strategy of Marshall Street is to optimise the quality of the investment decisions and returns to the investor. It should not be forgotten that to some investors a social element or special purpose may be a significant factor in the creation of our strategy.

We believe in a structured approach to reporting to investors both in person and through regular updates.

Opportunity
The market always presents opportunities, although the nature of that opportunity varies greatly depending on the economic cycle. The reasons for the change in sentiment are also not always the same.
What is certain, though, is that the market is always changing. In uncertain times, values degrade, which, combined with restrictions in available finance, presents opportunities for investors to take advantage of underpriced assets, where those assets are controlled by experienced Asset Managers. Founding Partner David Butt is responsible for the Corporate Finance business and the overall strategy of the firm.
David Butt
MANAGING PARTNER
David has over 22 years financial market experience working with Institutional, Family Office and UHNW clients in delivering and executing on a range of transactions including capital markets, corporate finance and wealth management.
David was formerly UK/International Market Head and Managing Director for Societe Generale and Credit Suisse, having previously been based in New York, Sydney and Zurich before moving back to London in 2017. David began his career in London as an analyst at Gartmore Investment Management.
David founded Marshall Street Advisors as a consequence of the growing gap between client requirements and the solutions on offer from financial institutions. He is also an active investor and holds both advisory and Non Exec positions.
Adrian Powell
REAL ESTATE PARTNER
Adrian spent 10 years in the City of London building a high profile career in banking and finance. He started at Citibank in 1989 in Foreign Exchange & Derivatives then as a Director of UBS. His final role was as First Vice President of First Chicago restructuring their European Foreign Exchange and Derivatives business.
During his career, Adrian has generated market leading $1bn+ deals, restructured businesses, managed high profile multi national relationships, created new banking products and developed new banking systems.
He founded and built over the next 20 years a highly successful multi award winning Property Development & Investment company achieving annual returns on capital in excess of 50% .
Adrian graduated with First Class Honours in Mathematics from the City University, London in 1989.
Mark Butt
TECHNOLOGY, MEDIA AND TELECOMS PARTNER
Mark is an entrepreneur with over 20 years professional experience in the fields of commercial strategy, mergers & acquisitions, media buying, programmatic technology and advertising operations.
Since launching his first venture in 2001, Mark has been a first mover in some of the most significant changes to hit digital advertising. Mark has remained at the forefront of digital and programmatic technologies for both media buying and selling, working hands on with leading ad-tech platforms.
In 2007 Mark sold his company NASH to Media Corporation plc, an AIM listed company on the London Stock Exchange for which he subsequently served as a Board Member. As Managing Director of Eyeconomy Ltd, the online advertising division, he launched the IASH network offering, secured key publisher contracts such as Northern & Shell Media Group, and served on the steering committee for the Digital Trading Standards Group (DTSG).
Shaan Mahrotri
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PARTNER
Shaan is a seasoned Entrepreneur and Founder with over 25 years of experience as a strategic and operational partner for family offices. He has a wealth of expertise across a diverse array of industries - FMCG, Media, Technology, HoReCa/Leisure, Natural Resources, Retail and Distribution and Regulated sectors.
Shaan is a trusted and respected thought partner to the board, offering a unique blend of strategic insight and practical, hands-on support. He has a proven track record of entering new markets and establishing a foothold for long-term, sustainable growth. He is skilled at identifying untapped opportunities and developing innovative strategies to capitalise on them.
Christine Sinkins
BUSINESS MANAGER
Christine has over 18 years’ experience in Business Management. She has held various senior management roles focusing on the daily business flow and profitability for a leading global construction company.
Her knowledge and experience extends to accounting, legal and regulatory requirements and management of human resources. Prior to her time in management, Christine spent time working as a teacher in the south east of England.
